Item Description

Square Enix went classic last year. In September, 2009, the company held 2 concerts in Oberhausen to celebrate the music of their hottest series. Symphonic Fantasies contains five symphonies, each of them comprise the theme and the mood of the respective games.

Great Remix of the Classics
This soundtrack offers a nice look back into history with some of the most popular soundtracks of the major series from Square/Enix. The orchestral setting enhances the original tunes for the most part (some of them still sound better in original) and give new interpretation of old music scores. If you know the series you will know immediately and appreciate the love put into the arrangement. And if you do not know them the pieces are very pleasing and relaxing to the ear. A recommendation to both fans and non-fans.

Excellent
"Symphonic Fantasies" is simply put an amazing sounding CD. Arranged albums where gametunes get a big orchestral makeover are usually something to look forward to, and the medleys contained on this disk don't disappoint. My only remark for not giving it 5 stars would be the choice of tracks chosen.
With so many musical cues on offer, many of whom have never gotten an orchestral rendition, it's a bit of a shame to see they always go back to the 'classic' ones that have already been played by an orchestra on previous occasions. This is a minor comment, mainly focussing on the final fantasy segment, and shouldn't let you think twice about picking up this CD, it will please any fan from square music. Very nice disk altogether!

Epic
This disc is just epic. I consider myself a Square fan, and as such I have special feelings for the melodies of its games, like Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy. Their soundtracks are all great, and it really gives a special feeling hearing it another way, like the arranges or piano collection (I'm a fan of those).

Well here you got all that. A disc dedicated to Square games and on full terrific orchestral arrangements. Each medley contains the characteristic tunes of the games and being played by an orchestra is, if put into a single word: EPIC.

I didn't play Secret of Mana so I didn't enjoy that track, but all the rest, the overture and the others (each of more 15 minutes) were gorgeous.

Definetively a MUST for Square music fans.

Awesome Arrangements!
It's absolutely awesome to be able to hear the different themes in each of these games put together in a medley like we have here in this CD.

For fans of Secret of Mana, you're in for a treat as the musicians emulate 'nature' like sounds using their instruments etc.

Can never get sick of the Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross arrangements with the mixing and melding of the different melodies such as the introduction of the Chrono Trigger theme going into the Chrono Cross theme!

Fans of game orchestral music will not be dissapointed with this one!
