Item Description

Wingspan is a relaxing, award-winning strategy card game about birds for 1 to 5 players. Each bird you play extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your three habitats. Your goal is to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. This edition contains the base game of Wingspan, as well as 2 expansions: European Expansion and Oceania Expansion, each adding new exciting bird cards, powers, and mechanics to the game.

The officially licensed digital adaptation of Wingspan, the winner of the prestigious 2019 Kennerspiel des Jahres board game award.

You are bird enthusiasts - researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors - seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats. Each habitat focuses on a key aspect of the growth of your preserves.

In Wingspan, up to 5 players compete to build up their nature preserves in a limited number of turns. Each beautiful bird you add to your preserve makes you better at laying eggs, drawing cards, or gathering food. Many of the 170 unique birds have powers that echo real life: your hawks will hunt, your pelicans will fish, and your geese will form a flock.

Wingspan: European Expansion takes you on a journey to explore the diverse European habitats and meet charming, beautiful birds with new interesting abilities. Use end-of-round powers, pick up food from opponents, occupy two slots with one card, and more! In the Oceania Expansion, you embark on a journey through the breathtaking lands of Australia and New Zealand. A new food type - nectar - will appear in your inventory. As one of the most essential ingredients in the nutrition of the birds of Oceania, it will let you substitute other food types in the game.

Great adaptation of the board game

I haven't played the actual board game. This is a very faithful digital recreation of it that automates things like scorekeeping to keep the game moving smoothly. You can play single player, local multiplayer, or online multiplayer. Various game modes and settings are included, such as Automata mode, long-term online games where you log in and take a turn whenever you feel like it, and removing or including specific card sets. On the topic of card sets, the European and Oceania Expansions are included and contain a lot of new content and features, BUT you may need to visit https://maximument.com/wingspan/ to get a code for your DLC as some copies shipped without them on the disc. There are also some cheap cosmetic DLCs and the just-released Asia Expansion not included on the disc.

tl;dr: If this game looks interesting to you, whether or not you've played the board game, you'll probably like it.
