Le jeu transporte les joueurs dans une ère où le Cocoon s'effondre. Dans ce nouveau monde, tout le monde suppose que Lightning est morte, à l'exception de Sara, qui n'a jamais abandonné sa sœur. Un nouveau personnage entre en scène. Noel a de puissants sorts dans sa manche et, avec Sara et le Moogle, ils partent explorer des terres inconnues. Les monstres attaquent en hordes et après la bataille, les joueurs auront la possibilité de se lier d'amitié avec ces bêtes. Toutes les bêtes possèdent des compétences spéciales, alors utilisez-les judicieusement pour renforcer vos attaques. Les cinématiques jouent un rôle majeur dans les batailles. Entrez les bonnes séquences de boutons à l'écran pour lancer une compétence de coup fatal.

Definitely an improvement
Story-wise it's no longer linear and it won't take you 30 hours just to get past the "introduction" anymore, which is a good thing. The ending(?) is a bit of a shocker, and it makes you curious for more.

The battle mechanics, on the other hand, did not change much, which might mean that this is actually less of a challenge than the original. To get the most out of this, make sure to complete all quests, even though that means exploring every nook and cranny of the game.

Feels unfinished...
I remember back when FF13 was in production, they have been news that the amount of discarded levels from 13 is enough to make a whole new game... well, FF13-2 feels just like Squarenix gobble together all the discarded materials and with minimum effort farts out FF13-2. That being said; I'm in my 37th hour into the game and I immediately set it aside once I got my hands on Diablo3. FF games used to mean something to me, but now Squarenix just keep going downhill. Hironobu Sakaguchi!!! why'd you left....

Nice changes, but could do better
As the title suggests, it's better than the 1st game in terms of freedom. But the sad thing is that the developer has demoted most of the characters from the 1st game, at best, some extra that make cameo appearances (if not killed off altogether.....)

Main story is quite short (if you don't side track) but it does has side quests to for the purpose of time killing.

Captured Monster as 3rd party member...... well, it's a fresh idea... but i'd prefer some real character that help grows the story instead of some creature that is a good as useless outside the battlefield. Tho the "upgrading" of the monster is kinda fun on its own.

Anyways, bottom line, this is a good enough game for you to at least give it a try if you like RPGs, but not good enough for you to be crazy about it (even if a RPG lover, more so if you're a FF fan.)

Usually hate this kind of addon like sequels, but this one is really AWESOME!

Try it yourself, and you will understand what I mean :)
