Aim for the top! is GAINAX's first original video animation work, released in 1988, and director Hideaki Anno's first commercial work.
The staff included Hideaki Anno, Shinji Higuchi for storyboarding, Haruhiko Mikimoto for character design, and Kazuki Miyatake from Studio Nue for mechanical design. A profound drama, a setting full of science fiction, and a light parody spirit combine at a high level to move viewers.
The music that enlivens the passionate drama is also perfectly addictive, and as the story progresses, the main character Noriko personal growth becomes more exciting.
“Aim for the Top! ” is truly a masterpiece that transcends eras and is a classic entertainment work.
