In the aftermath of a brutal attack on Free Space, humanity sends scout ships to the star system that was at the source of the assault. But when one of the pilots doesn’t return home, it’s up to his daughter -- the talented starpilot Sabrina -- to find him. Habroxia 2 is a non-linear, old-school space shooter with upgrades, boss fights, and even New Game+, all wrapped in a retro package combining pixel graphics, chiptunes, and stellar gameplay.

Awesome shoot em up

Just a great game to get this late in the vita’s life cycle. I’ve become a little more picky now that I’m buying for the switch as well, but I couldn’t pass this one up. You shouldn’t either.

Even better than the original

The first Habroxia was reminiscent of an extremely old shooter like Gradius or Vanguard. This sequel is a vast improvement on the first game. There are more stages, branching paths, and more powerups. There is a small intro story but aside from that, it is all action. One of the other key differences is that you use the right stick to aim and shoot, not unlike games like Smash TV. Which it takesgetting used to at first, you'll soon finding yourself glad they made that major change (the game controls are great). You also have a "turbo" button that allows your ship to plow through everything in your path (but only lasts a few seconds) and a variety of secondary weapons. Hit detection is solid-- I never feel cheated by the same. The soundtrack is not too bad, either.

It is a challenging game but not too challenging; think of it like medium salsa, warm and spicy but not burn your mouth hot. If you like shooters but you aren't that great at them (like me), you will find the challenge just right. You can get all the trophies fairly easily if that's your thing. After you play through the first time, you have access to a "New Game Plus" (same stages but with lots more enemies and bullets, and the bosses are stronger and have more attacks), a boss rush, and a Turbo Boost obstacle course. Still, I got the "Platinum" trophy within a couple of afternoons.

It is a vast improvement over the original. I hope to see a Habroxia 3. I recommend this game.

good game!!

Habroxia 2 is a fantastic old school ship arcade game. An action packed title and lots of bosses to battle against. While it is not too long, it offers plenty of replayability and a boss rush mode for those who finish the campaign. If to all this we add the low price of sale to the public, we have a winning rider to spend some good hours of space entertainment.
