Hifumi Katou-Supervised Hifumin’s Shogi Dojo aims to teach players how to play Japanese board game Shogi even beginners who have never played shogi before can play while learning the basic rules and moves. It has three gameplay modes which are “Shogi Introduction Mode,” “Game Mode,” and “Problem Mode” these are playable on TV, table, and handheld modes.

Awesome entry into the game
If you can read Japanese, this game provides and excellent introduction into the game and makes it very easy to remember the rules, the names of the pieces, and their movements. It’s great to learn the basics and get to playing games in 30-minutes to an hour going through the tutorial and some problems. I wish there were some tutorials on general strategies/opening, but maybe they wanted to keep it light. If you want a serious dive into Shougi, I suggest to visit some websites, forums, or get some books. But as a cheap game, it does a lot right.
