A fun yet extremley limited art program for doodling caligraphy

This is an art game made specifically to let the player learn about and mimic the art style of Mitsuo Aida. If you’re looking for a simplistic art program to doodle calligraphy in, then this is a pretty decent (albeit very limited) option.
The game has 1 brush that dynamically changes depending on how fast you write with it. It's a little hard to work with, but it's not too bad for an art program on the DS. It lets you save about 20 pictures total (give or take roughly 5), and you can either choose to either trace one of Mitsuo’s works, or draw on a blank canvas.
If you don’t know any Japanese then this game will be a bit of a pain to navigate. The game's small enough to brute force your way through, but you still have to be careful to not accidentally erase whatever you're trying to make.
If you’re looking for a way to learn how to write Japanese script (Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji) then you should look somewhere else. The number of characters available to practice with is too limited, it doesn't teach you things like stroke order or definitions, and the unique writing style could make your handwriting harder to read.
This game does offer a small bit of decent reading practice though. There’s a brief biography on Mitsuo’s life to read through, the poems are short, and hard to translate, but I can tell they're a fun read for anyone with a strong enough grasp of Japanese grammar and nuance to understand them.
Overall, while this game is great at what it does, it does not do much, so it's hard to recommend to most people. However, I had a lot of fun with it, and if this game sounds like your sort of thing then it might be worth a shot!
