Groundwork of FLCL [Reprint Edition] is a collectible artbook showcasing the production artwork and animation materials behind the acclaimed anime series FLCL (Fooly Cooly). The "FLCL Original Drawings Collection," originally published by Gainax in 2001, is being reprinted. "FLCL," an original OVA in which many talented animators participated, is a timeless masterpiece that has influenced many works since, and is highly regarded overseas and remains popular today. It is a 6-episode sci-fi animation co-produced by Gainax and Production IG.
The everyday life of elementary school student Naota is thrown into chaos by the appearance of a mysterious alien, Haruhara Haruko, and he gets caught up in a huge commotion when a robot grows out of his forehead... The story depicts how an "ordinary everyday life" changes, along with Naota's growth. The director is Kazuya Tsurumaki, who also directed "Shin Evangelion Theatrical Version" in 2021. The series consists of six episodes, and one of its highlights is the unique visual expression challenged in each episode. The staff who participated include many now-renowned animators.

This book contains the original drawings full of youth and challenge from the animation production created by these staff members. It had been out of print for a long time, but as a valuable document that preserves the history of this masterpiece animation work, we are republishing it as a collection of original drawings just as they were at the time!
