Call of Duty: Black Ops is a first-person shooter with stealth and tactical play aspect that puts players in the role of a shadow soldier fighting in a variety of historically representative fictional Black Ops missions of the Cold War era. Created with the input of actual Black Ops soldiers from the time, the game mixes traditional Call of Duty tactical shooter gameplay with new gameplay options designed to expand the players' experience. Great COD

I love the series and is just a great game to just sit back relax and kill 5 out of 5

A Copy and Paste COD titles, takes 2 steps BACK

This game is so over-hyped and over-praised it isnt funny.
The Single player clocks in about 5 hours. It is longer, but has a bunch of movies you HAVE to watch and can not skip even on mutlie playthrough. On hard difficutles levels the game is so cheap it isnt funny. It is not hard and does not require skill. It is just cheap. You can go on youtbube and see videos how to beat it on the hardest difficutly level. It is 100% dependent on where to stand!!! So you either look up video or just trial and error, basically making the single player a rail-shooter. The graphics are good notch BELOW Modernwarfare 2. I know this game is Vietnam era, and the weapons in this game are boring! I love modern guns, and I love WW2 era guns, but 70's era guns suck! sorry its the truth.
The multiple player has been so "refined" that basically you spawn and kill and die over and over again every 3 seconds. just run, hope you see some one, then either die or kill. There is no strategy involved in this game, no team work. The levels are SUPER SUPER small. Other COD titles required you to adapt. Short range weapons like SMG for indoors and smaller levels, assault for med range, rifles and snipers for long range. In Black ops, its is all med range, if you have an SMG, you will die. Sniping is impossible. There is nothing to adapt to, just spawn run and die/kill. REALLY small levels, with lots of corners. One level is jsut two houses, it takes about 3 min for a team to rack up 100 kills. Some of the most asinine and boring multiplayer I have ever played in my entire life, and this is coming from a life long COD fan. I beat the game on all difficulty levels, and put about 40 hours into the multiplayer until I came to my senses and accepted how much I really hated this game and how truly inferior it is to MW2 and BF Bad Company 2.

Good, but too much emphasis on cut scenes

I can't fault the game mechanics or the story (though the suicide game scene was stolen from the film Deer Hunter) but I always felt like I was being taken away from the action. I would be progressing nicely through a level when I would be suddenly blown up and the game would cut to another interrogation scene. Frustrating.
