Of Ash and Steel is a third-person open-world fantasy RPG that combines classic role-playing challenges with modern design, featuring skill-based combat, meaningful faction choices, deep character progression, and a world that rewards exploration without relying on quest markers; its upcoming console versions are also accompanied by the announced Shattered Faith expansion, which introduces new magic, locations, enemies, and weapons.

The announced Shattered Faith expansion takes Tristan to forgotten parts of Grayshaft on an expedition connected to the ancient Primestriders. Planned additions include two schools of magic, the poleaxe weapon class, six new locations, unfamiliar beasts, new equipment, special perks, and additional encounters that expand exploration and combat.
