Launched by Sony Music Solutions in 2023, "Newtro" is a "revival" music project that reimagines classic Japanese songs with a modern sensibility. While respecting the appeal of classic songs from the past, this project adds new arrangements and interpretations, transforming them into works that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Two tracks from Newtro's popular cover series, arranged by DJ Hasebe, are now available on vinyl. Emi Okamoto softly recites a Takako Matsu classic, while Natsu Summer offers an urban interpretation of a certain whiskey commercial song. DJ Hasebe's sophisticated sound, which spans hip-hop and R&B, breathes new life into these classics. This highly anticipated vinyl release from Newtro is sure to delight people of all ages.
