Wolcen II is a dark-fantasy action RPG sequel that expands the series with class-free character building, fast-paced combat, the new Shadow Form transformation, four-player cooperative play, and persistent endgame activities designed to support long-term character progression.
Wolcen II takes place many years after the events of Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, with the world once again standing on the brink of destruction. The Warlord, a bastard son of the Shadow God, is forced out of exile alongside his companions and becomes entangled in a prophecy promising salvation at the cost of sacrifice. As the journey unfolds, the group must confront powerful forces, reality-bending horrors, and decisions that could determine whether they embrace or reject their fate.
The game delivers a dark-fantasy hack-and-slash experience focused on freedom of character development. Rather than locking players into predefined classes, weapons unlock skills while modifiers, specializations, passive abilities, and equipment allow players to create highly personalized builds. Combat emphasizes rapid skill combinations, dense enemy encounters, powerful bosses, and the ability to activate Shadow Form when facing overwhelming odds.
Beyond its main campaign, Wolcen II introduces additional activities intended to keep character progression going. Conquest places players in dynamically assembled battlefields where factions compete for territory and power, while the Tower of Wonders focuses on targeted rewards and lets players influence the difficulty and outcome of their ascent.
Class-Free Character Development
Wolcen II removes traditional predefined classes, allowing players to determine their own combat identity. Weapons unlock abilities, while modifiers, specializations, and passive progression can be combined to create distinctive archetypes such as melee-focused spellcasters, spellblades, tank-oriented casters, gunslingers, or entirely custom builds.
Fast and Brutal Combat
Combat is built around quick, rhythmic encounters featuring melee attackers, ranged enemies, large groups of foes, and powerful bosses. Players can chain abilities together and adapt their tactics as enemy combinations change.
Shadow Form Transformation
When battles turn against the player, Shadow Form provides a powerful transformation that can dramatically shift the momentum of combat, allowing the Warlord to overwhelm enemies with enhanced dark power.
Deep Build Customization
Skills, weapons, passive abilities, and equipment are designed around interconnected synergies. Players can search for build-defining items, collect materials, craft equipment, and experiment with combinations that alter how their character fights.
Solo and Cooperative Adventure
The campaign and combat experience can be played alone or cooperatively with up to four players, giving players the option to tackle the dark fantasy world either independently or alongside companions.
Conquest Endgame
After the campaign, Conquest places players in dynamically assembled battlefields where factions continue fighting for territory and influence. The mode is designed to provide additional progression and opportunities to develop new character builds.
Tower of Wonders
The Tower of Wonders provides a focused way to pursue specific rewards while allowing players to influence the difficulty and outcome of each ascent, creating another route for long-term character development and item collection.
An Expanding Dark-Fantasy World
The planned full experience is designed to grow beyond its initial campaign and activities, with additional story content, activities, and optional cosmetics intended to expand the game's world, systems, and endgame.
Built Around Player Feedback
Development is being focused on balancing, performance, polish, and incorporating player feedback, with the game's development process intended to refine its systems based on player experiences.
