Nice scenery, kind of short
If you've played any of Sonic Powered Japanese Rail Sim games, you know what to expect here. Nice scenery in FMV, with a simple controls and a CG rendered train cockpit to make it look like you're in the train. You can turn off the train interior so the scenery uses the full screen, which is how I prefer to play the game. As with all of these games, you can unlock pictures and information about points of interest along the train line and info about the trains themselves. My reason for only giving it four stars is it's a little light on content compared to the previous games on the 3DS.
And finally, about buying this Japan region game to use in America: When you first boot it up, it will ask you if you want to download a patch. The patch is the English translation, so assuming you want to be able to actually read the text say "yes." There's also a link to the e-shop because there is some DLC available. If you click on the link, you'll just get an error message unless you have a Japanese e-shop account set up. I did that, but I can't load funds onto it (it won't accept American credit cards) so I can't get the DLC.
