Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 11 Chou Ketteiban
I\'m new to this series of baseball games. I\'ve read about them on the internet for years, but this is the first version I\'ve purchased and played.

Two factors drove me to finally give this game a try: 1) The countless number of stellar reviews this series has received over the years - this is the Winning Eleven of baseball games; 2) The baseball games released in North America this year so far have been absolute garbage. Nintendo\'s Pennant Chase Baseball is due out in early June and is North America\'s final hope for this year. But the more I read about Pennant Chase, the more skeptical I\'m becoming about its chances of delivering a deep game of baseball.

Again, I\'m new to the series and I don\'t speak much Japanese. So the learning curve for this game has been pretty steep for me. Even so, each time I play I get new glimpses at its brilliance and I\'m driven to play more, to learn more.

When you set the batting cursor to Easy (Blue Color), it becomes too easy to hit no matter how difficult you make the CPU\'s pitching ability. This is how I began and I quickly tired of slugfest after slugfest.

I\'ve since gone back to the default settings. I\'m finding this game very challenging on the default settings. I\'m slowly improving though.

I give this game the highest rating. I\'m glad I tried it in spite of the language barrier.

To give you a sense of my my taste in games, here are the other games I currently play that warrant a 5 star rating: Winning Eleven 8 Liveware Evolution, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater, and Gran Turismo 4. Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars lie: Madden 2005 for PS2, World Rally Championship 4, and Halo 2 (Because its still just a 1st-person shooter. And because the framerate is jumpy except on the slowest turn-speed setting. Halo 2 makes me motion sick.)

I hope other baseball video game fans found this helpful.
