Kissa Rock 25 - Shijin No Matsuro

Kissa Rock 25 - Shijin No Matsuro is a commemorative edition of the legendary Kissa Rock compilation series, released to celebrate the collection's 25th anniversary. First launched in 2001, the original series played a major role in reviving interest in 1970s Japanese-language rock by recontextualizing forgotten classics through the lenses of folk rock, country rock, and soft rock. This expanded and revised edition revisits that influential legacy for a new generation of listeners.

As appreciation for Japanese music continues to grow worldwide following the City Pop revival, Kissa Rock 25 - Shijin No Matsuro reexamines the "folky" spirit found in 1970s Japanese rock. The compilation draws connections between pioneering artists such as Haruomi Hosono and contemporary musicians including Ichiko Aoba, Satoko Shibata, Yuta Orisaka, Yuga, and Gusokumuzu, showcasing how this musical sensibility continues to inspire new generations. This expanded anthology includes important selections from the 2002 compilation Kissa Rock: Goodbye at Dusk Victor Edition alongside newly selected tracks, creating a broader and more comprehensive listening experience.
