Way of the Samurai 4 takes place in mid- 19th century Japan as the Edo period is coming to a close. For hundreds of years Japan has remained isolated from the outside world and free of foreign affairs or cultural influence. Now, for the first time in centuries, Japan has opened its borders to the world beyond. This new cultural landscape has created countless opportunities for the ambitious, and players are thrown into this world as a masterless samurai looking to make a name for himself.Players will begin their experience in Way of the Samurai 4 by crafting their own customized character. After creating their samurai warrior from one of three distinct age groups – youth, young man or middle-aged – players are cast into a tumultuous power struggle between three factions: the shogunate pro-governmental forces, the nationalistic isolationists, and the foreign powers who are heavily influenced by the British Navy.

Many Ways of the Samurai...

Sure, more than 4... being the 4th game in the seriesthe previous ones, it will let you follow your own way , according to your actions.... High replay value for multiple endings. Great game!

The best WOTS game so far

I played Way of the Samurai 3 and loved the experience, I would say WOTS4 is probably the best in the series despite it's flaws, (maybe even one of the best samurai games I've played so far), it's also quite silly at times and doesn't take itself seriously, which make the experiance all the more gratifying.

--The graphical improvements are actually pretty impressive when you compare the older titles, the water effects are nice, the buildings and landscapes in the background are pretty, adding to the atmosphere

--The new weapons are very nice, all the weapons in WOTS4 are nicely rendered, each one unique and even some are quite beautiful, I would say the weapons are by far one of the defining features about this game for sword enthuisiast's like myself.

--Gameplay is fun and intuitive, theres many styles to find and master, the new feature this time is you no longer have styles tied to weapons, but rather this time you equip styles and thus use the correct class of weapon.

A must own, for any hackn'slash samurai fan.
