There was a young designer who jumped into the booming anime industry of the late '70s and created the world of "Macross, the Super Dimension Fortress." The name is Shoji Kawamori.
Nowadays, the role of anime production has been subdivided into roles, but Shoji Kawamori is not only a mechanic designer, but also a story (original/joint), storyboard, prop design, coloring setting, and art setting in "Macross". I did all my work vigorously. It was a pure and bold challenge because he was a young man who knew very little about the industry.
This book is an enormous collection of works by Shoji Kawamori, the collection of enormous sketch work from the time to the present, which traces the traces of designers. How many ideas and “lines” were accumulated by the time a single historic design represented by “VF-1 Valkyrie” was completed? What does "design" mean by "talent"? Not only Macross fans but also designers and illustrators who aim to become a universal and important thing.
This book aims to collect as many rough sketches as possible, which are often omitted from existing books and magazines that have been set or are often treated small, and to publish them as many as possible and large. There are also quite a few drafts that I have never seen before. This book, which has about 600 pages (planned), is probably unprecedented as a book consisting of only preliminary drafts. It can be said that it is a permanent preservation version that fans must-have.
