Item Description

The new story takes place in the fictional Europe in 1935, the same as the very first game of the franchise. The background is the same, but this time the story unfolds from a different stand point. At times, you will fight together with the "Squad 7" members, or see the cadets of the Royal Lanseal Academy in their younger days. If you are a Valkyria fan, you won’t be able to take your eyes off the story full of such attractive characters.

I love the VC universe and I wish this game gets translated and localised. It continues you the same gameplay as VC2 but is a bit darker with amazing character designs. I love these games!

Re: Valkyria Chronicles 3
One of the best games I've ever played on any platform. My second in the Valkyria Chronicles series and a very good step up from it.

Liked:
- Very good gameplay. I was never bored, no matter how many times I played through similar stages.
- Good variety of units, weapons, character types with various strengths and weaknesses.
- Rich, engaging war story. Excellent artwork and very nicely animated cutscenes.
- Many enhancements from the old engine including being able to freely switch between jobs and a new skill development system.

Points of contention:
- A lot of stages are remixes of old VC1 and VC2 stages. On one hand, they're old rehashes but on the other, they make it easier on veteran players who have a better idea on where the enemy may be hidden. As in previous games in the series, enemy locations and makeup are randomized each replay and may change according to what units you choose to deploy.

Disliked:
- A lot of content, including side story content, are in paid DLC, which can be a little pricey and require a Japanese PSN account and credit. The Extra Edition has some of these onboard already but I would encourage newcomers to do research such as log into Japan's PSN and find out what they may have to pay to get.
- The original japanese version has a few very minor bugs and limitations, such as being unable to view the ending cutscenes without playing through the last stage again. It's actually possible to play through the whole game and never notice til someone points it out to you.

Why do Side Stories turn out better?
Well, not always. But this game is definitely enhancing if you are familiar with all the events in the first Valkyria Chronicle. Easy to pick up and play, VERY challenging at times, and has some replay value -if you are a completion nut. Although, since the "Extra" one is coming out, you should wait for that, and play that one instead
