This long space adventure is not deep but it's still good fun.
These days you do not get many opportunities on current consoles to explore the galaxy shooting space pirates and trading goods, therefore DarkStar One: Broken Alliance fills a very large void. In spite of its quirks, this long and easy to play space combat sim does a fine job of doing so, putting you behind an upgradable spacecraft and giving you an enormous universe to conquer. It's lack of depth and lots of mission repetition make the later hours start to drag a bit. The voice acting and overly compressed cutscenes make the story seem strange. But there's no reason the flaws should weigh too heavily on adventurers itching to save the cosmos by blasting nasty alien ships into pieces. All in all I would say it is lots of fun and has easy and good controls for the space dogfighting. The story could be better and the missions could be more diverse but still it is fun if you like science fiction space combat games.
