Pleasantly surprised.
I was originally quite sceptical about Kinect, but after hearing much word of mouth (good and bad), I decided to take the plunge.
Setting up the unit is very straightforward and user-friendly, but it is important to realise that Kinect requires at least 2.2m to operate effectively.
The unit will recognise you and you can do the basics at 1.8m, but I found that to get the most out of Your Shape: Fitness Evolved I needed 2.2m. This requires me to move my sofa which I consider a warm-up before I work-out. This is not an issue for me, but some consumers may not wish to move furniture nor may they have sufficient room.
My advice is to carefully consider where you will use Kinect, how often you will use it and whether or not you are prepared to move furniture. If your house is large enough though, no problems.
The unit contains Kinect Adventures, I haven't spent much time playing the title, but it appears to be what a pack-in game should be. It's basic, but functional enough to act as a good introduction to what the device is capable of. Better than I expected, but I doubt it will take too much of your time, other than when people come over to visit.
Final words, I am satisfied with my purchase, and am now looking forward to Child of Eden!
