*Ripstop fabric... as the name suggests, it is characterized by its ability to stop (rip) from tearing. By sewing thick fibers into a thin and light fiber in a "lattice pattern", it is lightweight and prevents the tear from spreading even if a hole is made. It was originally developed as a fabric to improve the durability of military products such as parachutes and military uniforms and is now widely used in outdoor goods.
