Bayonetta Soundtrack or Sunday Mass? How about awesome!
Firstly, this soundtrack has an impressive quantity of tracks to listen to over a span of five CD's and with such an assortment, there is something for everyone here. Much of the OST is comprised of music that will inevitably put your head in the clouds with a state of mind that is either philosophical or religious. They make use of very old musical concepts like Gregorian Chant and sometimes accompanied by an organ. These are personal favorites of mine. Other tracks are much more modern and vary from techno beat music to fast-paced vocal music that will showcase the femme fatale of the games protagonist. Note that I'm not a fan of techno music and this soundtrack doesn't change my mind of that. I did, however, enjoy one particular song that will have you reminisce of the 1930's. Fly Me to the Moon will have you immediately picture the cliche of a beautiful woman in an elegant red dress singing directly to you from atop a piano. Should I be ashamed that I like it? I think not.
Bottom line; if you liked the game, you need this soundtrack, and even if you didn't play the game this CD set was made for, there are sure to be a select few from the vast sea of compositions here that you will enjoy. However, be forewarned, just as there are many songs you'll enjoy, there are likely just as many you will dislike. Nearly the entirety of disc 5 was almost painful to listen to, but that's just me and someone else will enjoy it.
