Unique and Relaxing
I've been wanting to play Journey and its 2 included bonus games (Flower and Flow) ever since I first seen the gameplay when it was introduced.
Buying them all here in Play-Asia with the price it gave while also getting 3 extra mini-games makes it all worth it.
Journey. The game is so beautiful and intriguing. The story it was telling were told through our actions and some cut scenes. It's so vague that I'm sure people are open to interpret it however they like. The multiplayer in Journey is so flawless and unique. You'd be journeying through the game when suddenly you see a fellow journey...er, journey person that tags along, greeting you with its light and jump movement. You communicate not through words but through ... movement, through button pressing that creates certain actions. You can replenish each other's .. aura, that allows you to jump higher and this allows you to feel a sense of bonding with the other player; the stranger that happens to enter your life. Journey can be sad, especially when it's time to say goodbye to your fellow traveler.
Flow. You start small and you eat to grow. Each "level" requires you to eat / defeat a bigger / faster creature than you and you will eventually start growing bigger and, in a way, vulnerable to attacks from the other creatures. Of course, you can simply skip these level by eating the creature that allows you to go deeper.
Once you finished a series of level, you will be "reborn" and start at the beginning, unlocking a new creature to grow and have adventure with. This goes on until you've unlocked more creatures. Flow is just you, the vast endless blue .. sea? .. and your food/enemy.
Flower. You are the wind that blows through the meadows, passing by the flowers and collecting their petals. There is no direction, there is no rules. You are free to roam wherever as the wind and look for ways to finish the level. Of course, the game will give you hints on where to go and what to do but you learn by observing. There are no words telling you "to move press A" and so on.. You are the wind! Nobody tells you how to move.
If you're tired of relaxing games that is too beautiful to handle, there are 3 mini-games to choose from that brings you back to the pixels-game days. Zombie hunter is a fun game where you shoot zombies, collect their heads and submit it for points, competing with your friends, killing them and taking their heads if you have to.
Duke allows you to be a Duke, gathering enough followers to build a tower and gather money by chopping down trees while the AI king goes around collecting said money and after reaching $500 allows you to win over your other friend. Be careful though, your enemies can create soldiers that can attack your tower and your worker. Arm yourself.
Overall, this is a great game. Worth the buy with such price! Go get it while you can!
