Overhyped and Overrated Game
I was looking forward to puchasing this for a while, considering so many glowing and positive reviews I have read about this game, I had a lot of expectations for it. In the end, I was left massively disappointed. The background arts were splashed in wild acid colours, with a sense of pop art which reminds you of 1950s or early 1960s America. The music didn't appeal to me. It was also tuned to this era, I got over oldies music a long time ago. What annoyed me was the gameplay. The joysticks were mostly disabled, so navigation using the directional buttons was forced to the user. Scrolling walls of text logs using the up button was highly inconvenient. The storyline was full of holes, and ridden with grammatical errors. I've never seen a game that is so inconsistent with its grammar. I really, really wanted to love this game. But the love interests, even Allan - whom I had hoped to save the game for me, failed to rope me in. He had a good story until the second half of his route, which went down the abyss. The CGs were disappointing, too. No offense to Yuuya, the artist, but I really don't know why the arts are so low quality compared to other games I've played recently like Olympia Soiree and Variable Barricade, which had amazing arts. Cupid Parasite also has the lowest number of CGs in recent memory. It didn't have many arts, the arts are average, the music wasn't phenomenal, the story line is full of plot holes, the grammatical errors are way too many to count, the love interests are lame, so I don't know why it has gotten such a high rating. The shallow jokes weren't funny at all to me, either. It's the worst game I have played from Otomate in recent memory.

Overhyped and Overrated Game
I went around looking for a copy of this game because of so many great reviews I've read about it. After playing this and completing every route to 100%, obtaining all the CGs and unlocking everything there was to unlock, all I can say is, this game disappointed me on so many levels. This isn't one of the best otome games. In fact, this isn't even one of the better ones. The navigation is clumsy, the use of the left joystick is disabled by default and the only way to move is to use directional buttons. It's annoying. The music is reminiscent of 1950s-1960s Britpop, it's set against the backdrop of a parodied America - Los AnYork (Los York in text), Boltomore, Warrington (Wishington in text). The love interests were boring, the writing was honestly really bad. I honestly thought Allan would finally be the route that redeems the game for me, but no, the second half of his route went to hell. Shelby wasn't that bad, he was funny and adorable, just a little uptight, but the other love interests were terrible. The CGs were so-so. I like Yuuya, the artist, but honestly - this game just doesn't cut it for me. Variable Barricade is the much better game, with amazing music, amazing art by Kageroo, and other than love interests, friendships and family relationships were also addressed. In my opinion, I do not recommend Cupid Parasite. But, if you're the type who's into shallow writing with lots of mindless sexual situations, this is the game for you. This is the game you will like.

One of the best otomes out there
Cupid Parasite plays like a very stylish rom-com. It's light, full of fluff and made me laugh out loud on multiple ocasions. It's a delightful game if you just want to have a good time, and one of my favorite otomes to come out in the last couple years.
