About John Lennon

Born and raised in Liverpool, England, as a teenager John Lennon became involved in music, forming his first band, the Quarrymen. By 1960, the Quarrymen had evolved into The Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. Truly a renaissance man whose insights and perspective helped shape the contemporary mind, John Lennon was a prolific songwriter, an accomplished musician, author and, as half of the phenomenal Lennon–McCartney songwriting partnership, wrote some 180 songs, most recorded by The Beatles, during the period of 1962-1969.

Honoring a Legend

Molecule8 honors the legacy of John Lennon with their 1:6 scale museum quality representation of the “Imagine” era artist, poet, and musical genius. Complete with finely tailored iconic outfit options, a custom sculpted body form, head, and hands, this highly realistic figure features an innovative stainless steel internal skeleton within soft skin material for ultimate realism and posing capabilities. A white glass base provides an elegant display stand.

Working Face to Face
Master sculptor Ms. K.A.KIM carefully studied countless photos and footage of John Lennon to fully grasp the form and intricate details to be sculpted. Starting off in gray clay, Ms. KIM also created the alternate head option with the singing expression. (Temporary wire glasses were placed for reference.) After approval from Yoko Ono Lennon, the sculpt was prepared for final production in full color, bearing the full likeness of John Lennon. The alternate singing head will also be included in full color as part of the figure set.

Detail-focused Accuracy
Attention to detail and fidelity to the source material are at the core of everything we do. This includes not only the face and body but the miniature clothing and accessories, which are interchangeable for different looks. Elements such as the iconic army jacket patches were painstakingly researched and reproduced to scale.

Costumes in Miniature
Our costuming process employs lifelike custom tailoring in miniature and proper fitting to the body. We create custom printed patterns to match the source material and choose fabrics and materials that look and feel like miniaturized versions of real clothing. We include functioning pockets and real buttons, which mean the use of a specially designed buttoning tool for figure owners to change the outfits. In some cases, the clothing item is stonewashed to simulate real-world weathering effects.

Iconic Glasses Recreated
John Lennon’s trademark glasses are created with actual 0.3mm stainless steel frames and poured liquid process lenses, for ultimate miniature realism.

Extreme Extremities
Equally important was close attention to realistic hands and feet elements for the figure. Interchangeable hands included are
relaxed, piano playing and pocket fitting options. Boots and sandal feet are intricately detailed and function magnetically with the base to keep the posed figure in place.

Basic Elegance
Our Lennon figure stand is a true innovation. The white tempered glass surface conceals a powerful magnetic
element that reacts to magnetic elements in the figure’s feet, holding the posed figure in place for display. This eliminates the need for an unsightly support post coming up behind the figure when displayed. An imprinted “Imagine” logo on dark blue velvet material adds further elegance on the bottom surface.

Evolving the Form
In a departure from the classic plastic ball-jointed figure bodies commonly used for most figures, we were inspired to evolve and create something new. After careful study of human anatomy and movement, the Molecule8 team custom designed a detailed, stainless steel “endoskeleton” format that more closely portrays the proportions of human body poses. When embedded within our figures’ sculpted body material, the Mark I Endoskeleton provides the framework for a new level of anatomical excellence never before seen in 1:6 scale figures.
