Item Description

Aah—the moon is as beautiful as ever tonight.

When he was young, Shiki Tohno was seriously injured in an accident.

Driven away into the care of a distant relative, he led a calm everyday life until he received news of his father Makihisa Tohno’s death.

Called back to his family home, awaiting him was his younger sister Akiha, who succeeded their father as head of the family, and two maids.

Life as the eldest son of the Tohno family began anew.

A family with age-old traditions.

Life in a mansion not suited to his character.

Fragments of his memories awakened by scenes of the past, Shiki Tohno crosses paths with a person-shaped creature—.

Tsukihime, the romance visual novel created as a doujin game and still discussed today, is reborn!

I'm truly surprised!
For a quick introduction, Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- is a complete remake of a Visual Novel of the same name which put the developer Type Moon on the map. A small developer at the time but now a very famous company mostly famous for their Fate/Stay Night franchise.
To make this review a bit more focused, I'll just say that if you have bumped into anything made by Type Mooin and liked it, you should play this visual novel. Do this for yourself and you'll be a happier person for it.

If you are a complete novice in this universe I have some good news, since this is a remake of the first game, there is nothing you might want to know beforehand so you can enjoy it.

About the story, it's great. From the very beginning the way the characters are presented and introduced is great. Even the introduction in the very beginning which can be a little slow in many visual novels, here they are made to be interesting, mysterious, etc. The music and the graphics are top notch.

Overall, a must play Visual Novel.

Amazing Remake!
Tsukihime was my first VN ever, read the old mirror moon translation back in 2007 or 2008, and have been waiting ever since for the remake, which was announced around that same timeframe. Since then I've learned enough Japanese to be able to play the remaster, and they truly did a fantastic job with it!

If you are familiar with the original, this game is a remake of the near side routes (Arcueid and Ciel). The updated story and writing is amazing, there are so many nuances that Nasu includes in his writing that are very difficult to translate. Voice acting, soundtrack, and visuals are all top notch. It's probably the most well executed VN I've read to date.

If you are able to read Japanese, I strongly recommend checking this out, or if not definitely pick up the English translation whenever that is released. Tsukihime is a timeless classic and this remake is not only very faithful to the original story, in my opinion it is leaps and bounds improved over the original two routes. Definitely try to avoid spoilers even if you have read the original! Really looking forward to the far side routes.
