The film "STEAMBOY," released in theaters in 2004, was conceived, scripted and directed by Otomo Katsuhiro, and is "the first feature-length animated film since AKIRA." It took 10 years to make this film, from planning to release, and this book is the first of two volumes that compile the enormous amount of storyboards by Otomo himself. When the film was released, the editorial department of Young Magazine published "STEAMBOY Storyboard Collection" in one volume as an extremely thick 780-page hardcover book, but it quickly became a rare item and has since become a premium book.
